What we're looking for
We're seeking an experienced software engineer in the trust and safety or fraud detection space to join our team.
We're looking for candidates from diverse backgrounds who are interested in:
- Building product features, platforms, and tooling to help to protect Gamma’s platform from phishing, objectionable content, spam, account takeovers, and other kinds of fraud and abuse
- Ensuring that these systems scale to millions of users while maintaining high performance and availability
- Moving fast and shipping to production daily
- Working fully across our React Express NodeJS Postgres stack, mostly written in Typescript
- Contributing to the vision and roadmaps for long term Trust & Safety and articulating Gamma’s overall approach and philosophy on Trust Engineering
Above all, we're looking for someone with a passion for keeping Gamma safe and secure, writing code, collaborating with various engineering teams and product managers, and solving new problems as Gamma grows. We care as much about your attitude and curiosity as your technical knowledge and experience working in trust and safety engineering.
What you'll be working on
Over the past year or so, we've grown from a private beta serving hundreds of active users to a hot AI tool growing faster everyday with millions of users hitting our servers from around the world at all hours of the day. Gamma.app never sleeps!
Along with all this usage has come a variety of abusive behavior of the platform which has put our systems and thus our customers under unnecessary strain.
You'll be responsible for identifying the largest gaps in our existing infrastructure, proposing, validating, and socializing potential improvements, and then implementing said improvements while partnering with other engineers and product managers. This is a high visibility role that will be critical to ensure Gamma's success as we continue to add more users and more features.
Requirements
This position is an onsite role in San Francisco with a hybrid flexible work culture. You'll be expected to come in to our Potrero Hill office 3 days per week with a schedule that works best for you.
Must Have
- 5+ years experience as a software engineer, preferably with a focus on abuse/spam/fraud detection and prevention
- A degree in computer science or related field
- Strong proficiency in at least one programming language
- Experience developing & implementing features related to trust and safety, such as
- Rate limiting & throttling
- Malicious/spam content detection and blocking
- Anomaly detection
- Fraud detection
- Experience writing and maintaining highly-available web APIs
- Experience with event steaming systems like Redis Pubsub or Apache Kafka
- Experience working in large complex production scale codebases
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI prompting and large language models
- We use AI prompts to scan content currently
- Experience programming with Typescript
- Experience with Prisma and Apollo GraphQL
- Experience with Terraform and AWS Services
